Soft Walls
I have studied interior design for over 20 years. To bring textiles to another level in the home is a goal that I subscribe to. It is just in the last 50 years that the hanging of cloth on walls to help soften, warm and stimulate has gone out of favor. But with the revived interest in Mid Century Modern design, the wall hanging is a natural element for a room.

Notes to Mother Wall Hanging
This one of a kind piece is shown here for commission orders. This is woven of silk using the double weave process. My inspiration for this came when I would want to ask my mother questions about her life that I had failed to ask her while she was alive. I think we all have questions like this. The center areas between the photos are woven loosely to show a little color from the handmade Mulberry paper on which I wrote the notes. This paper was chosen because Mulberry is what silk worms eat and the beautiful red peeps through the white to give a splash of color.

Innocent
Another one of a kind piece that was woven for a show whose theme was "K9". I photographed dogs at the Trudy Brune SPCA in my home town of Fredericksburg, Texas. This is a no kill shelter. I wanted to show the "bars" in both the photos and the weaving. This is all silk, double weave structure and the pups names are also transferred using a stencil font reminiscent of the uniforms of the incarcerated.

Here Kitty
This was a fun piece to do since I am allowed to live with 3 cats! This is double woven using silk. The pictures of the cats are transferred like the photos in my other woven items but this time I drew the cats and used silk paint to color in the eyes.

Suspended
The inspiration for this piece came from Gerald Tobola at Copper Shade Tree Gallery (visit my links to view more of this great artist and gallery). His piece is titled "Forest Floor" and my interpretation focuses on the colors and leaves. This is a double weave, cotton and lacquered silk thread from Japan.
