No one is a terrible weaver...maybe not focused or practiced! And I happen to like Picasso- like art...And I, like you, often say "screw it" even when weaving.

Well, you have much more determination than me...I get frustrated with anything tedious...and even when I am building something...if it's not quite level...ah, shucks...screw it...I would probably be a terrible weaver...and my art would probably be more Picasso-like - one boob on the shoulder...one on the belly button! You are so awesome - doing what you were meant to do!!!

Hi Letitia, Weaving has certainly been a beautiful journey for me and, more recently the discovery of the Rio Grande style of rug weaving, which has a fascinating history as well. Since I am Mexican, I have found this to be the most interesting and fun weaving technique so far. At this point in my life, I would love to master this style of weaving. At least I think I want to do that. You never know what's around the corner. Oh yeah, what if, the journey is the destination.

Hi Letitia, Glad to see you're up and blogging again. First of all, I have to look up "piquet chino". I have no idea what that looks like and it's a mouthful. Also, to answer your question, if it's something I'm really interested in, I'll continue trying until I GET IT.

I know I'm going to be learning some yummy design elements in your Rio Grande workshop. However, it all sounds really fancy. I didn't realize these rugs were woven with more than the traditional designs. This will give me lots of choices when it comes to weaving my own rugs. I'm excited.

Will you let us all know when your sampler is available to look at? Thanks, Michele

Oh...I totally identify with your "job." Here on the farm, I work all day - but not in an office or studio - I'm in and out working in the garden - the barn - there is ALWAYS work to be done...but I love it cause I'm my own boss...and I can work at my own pace...the other day I strung barb wire - MYSELF!! It was slow and laborious...and I'm sure that it isn't pulled as tight as it could have been but it's keeping Paco, the donkey, in the pasture...he is an escape artist and I had to string a LOW line cause he goes UNDER the fence! lol Wish we lived closer!
I am coming to Austin next Thursday - going to see the Avett Bros. at the Salt Lick Friday night...wish I could see you...

On your themes...why not have a "dog" theme...or animal theme...When I go to Borrego Springs they have these "throws" they make with pictures of the local things - such as the ocotilla cactus, the roadrunner, desert flowers, etc...all indigenous to the S. Cal desert...so you could do that with Texas...roadrunner, mockingbird, bluebonnet, etc. However, I do think Texas things are overdone these days...but people like them.
